This blog chronicles the miracles and struggles of our daughters, Emily and Olivia. Emily was born 15 weeks early and had many complications, but she continues to amaze us! Olivia, born in China with heart complications, is also beating the odds. She joined her forever family (us!) when she was four years old and has been doing wonderfully! UPDATE: We started homeschooling August 2009 :)

Catching up with some photos

These aren't in any particular order. I'm just slowly making my way through a zillion photos and putting some quick collages together in an attempt get caught up! I still haven't waded through the Christmas in FL pix (except for our day with Jack)...

Above, you'll see pix from when my sister's family came for an impromptu visit when they were out of power and water, a visit to The Museum of Science & Industry, Olivia's teeth, and the day Olivia got to spend time with Jack, her old orphanage and traveling buddy.

Jack lives in Florida so we've been fortunate enough to visit him twice now when we've been down there. They always seem to remember each other and as you can see in the pictures, Olivia likes to be a little mother to him. Though they've always been about the same size, at adoption she was four and he was only two. Looking at each other, they might assume their the same age, but Olivia tried to feed him like a baby! He didn't seem to mind too much and they were very excited to see each other.

Somebody turned SIX!!

With so much going on I've neglected this blog, but we are all still alive and well.  We went to Florida, celebrated Christmas and New Years with my side of the family there as well as visiting Jack (Olivia's orphanage friend and our China travel-mate).  I've got photos to post once I sort through them all!  Nineteen of us shared a big rental house (I'm one of five) and the cousins loved having their own heated pool in the back yard.  This year we didn't go to Disney, but opted for two days at Sea World instead which the girls enjoyed.

We've been back a while now, but I've been busy with all kinds of things like trying to stay warm!  Since it's hermit season here, I've been spending a lot of time reading up on APD (Auditory Processing Disorder) and other learning issues as I seek out how better to help Emily continue to be successful in school.  We also just hosted some ice storm refugees from Kentucky--my sister's family of five + dog--for four days...AND CELEBRATED A BIRTHDAY :)  Olivia is now SIX!!  Oh, and she also lost her first two teeth last week!  And, not to be outdone, Emily lost one this morning, too!
